queen of the sun

The highly acclaimed film examining the global honeybee crisis, “Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?”, will be shown as part of a Bee-friendly Biodynamic Gardening workshop at Rudolf Steiner House in London on Sunday 19th February 2012. The screening will be introduced by Heidi Herrmann, a Founder Trustee of the Natural Beekeeping Trust, and will be followed by a panel discussion.

The workshop will cover the theory and practice of how to garden using the organic gardening principles of biodynamics inaugurated by Rudolf Steiner including using the planting calendar, the preparations and composting.  An hour of the programme will be spent stirring BD500, so bring an empty pint bottle with you to take some home and use on your own garden.  The screening of the film will follow the workshop.

“Queen of the Sun” is an in-depth investigation to discover the causes and solutions behind Colony Collapse Disorder, a phenomenon where honeybees vanish from their hives without explanation, never to return. The award-winning film focuses on organic and biodynamic communities around the world and is seen through the eyes of inspirational beekeepers, farmers, scientists and philosophers who keep bees in natural and holistic ways.

Cost: £10 (£5 concessions).  No booking required.
