Running Sun Hive Workshops

We welcome enquiries from organisations interested in hosting a Sun Hive workshop. Our Sun Hive workshop leader, Trustee Rachel Hanney, is an experienced and excellent teacher, and it may be possible to arrange a workshop with her in your area. However, this requires a lot of preparation and can be costly to organise, and we would appreciate it if you could take this into consideration before contacting us.  Currently scheduled workshops are listed here

There needs to be a source of biodynamic or organic rye straw, hand harvested and cleaned, and each participant will need access to a set of wooden hive moulds for weaving the skeps. These moulds could be provided by us as they are reusable, but we would need adequate notice.

The rye straw should be cleaned of weed, leaf and grain ahead of the workshop. You should allow for approximately 4 - 5kg per hive of clean straw.

Costs: Please contact the trust for a quotation.

Trustees contribute their time and energies freely for the work of the charity and are not paid. All tutors’ fees go directly to support the Trust.

Please see our Sun Hive page for more information about the hive.
