A while ago, the trustees of the Natural Beekeeping Trust received an unusual message.
A high security penal institution in the Midlands requested a beekeeping programme for inmates.
Bees were wanted, too, but not for their honey. For the inmates of the prison to learn to take care of bees, to cherish them and grow flowers for the bees.
This report about taking bees to a high security prison and teaching beekeeping to a group of inmates was first published in “Star and Furrow”, the magazine of the Biodynamic Association.
